About BCD

A brief history

Bangladesh Community Development (BCD) was formed as a charity in 1998 (charity registration number 1074027) to address the difficulties encountered by British Bangladeshi children and parents. The organisation was then incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee in 2004 and was issued with a new charity, number 1105387 due to its revised governance document.

BCD supports the Bangladesh community in Birmingham by running projects that offer educational support to parents, young people and students of all ages. The courses run by BCD provide people with the confidence to integrate & progress in all areas of life.

BCD works in partnership with mainstream primary and secondary schools, and with Colleges of higher education in Birmingham, providing educational support for students of Bangladeshi origin. BCD currently runs three community projects: Outreach Education Project, Supplementary School Project, Sports Development Project.

Over the last ten years BCD has provided additional education for almost 1250 youngsters, of whom over 200 have received nationally recognised qualifications.
