Tigers Tame Dogs
Sylhet Tigers Football Club (STFC) continued their marvellous record in local tournaments by winning the Neighbourhood Watch Community Association (NWCA) U17 title.
The tournament held at Holte School, Lozells, on Sunday 26th March, attracted over 50 teams in different age categories.
Sylhet Tigers stormed into the semi finals, winning all of their group games. Their semi final was a closer match in which they beat local rivals Aston Youth 1-0. Speedy striker Anghur Ali scored the winning goal, from an inch perfect through ball from midfield whiz kid Luthfur Rahman.
In the final, they met the 'Underdogs'. It seems that in all tournaments there is a team of Underdogs. Looking to upset the favourites, the Underdogs played very well to hold the Tigers to 0-0 at full time. The dreaded penalty shoot-out decided the outcome. And when it is a battle between Tigers and Dogs, there can only be one inevitable outcome! The Underdogs were savaged! Hassan Rahim and Dulal Hussain calmly slotted tigers' winning penalties in.

Tigers Roar to Victory
Sylhet Tigers Football Team (STFC) DID what Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United or Liverpool could NOT do this season, which is to do the double by winning the league and cup!
Having lifted the Neighbourhood Watch Community Association (NWCA) Under 17 CUP at the end of March, the team continued their success by winning the U16 Aston League in April. The event organised by Rahiel Hussain, in association with organisations in the locality 'in the interest of community cohesion'. Broadway Secondary School in Perry Barr, hosted the league, which contained eight local teams.
STFC won the league in the final week, without kicking a ball as their closest rivals lost their matches. This marked the end of an outstanding ten days for the club. Mr Hussain, who spearheaded the league commented, 'Sylhet Tigers deserved to win as they have all the requisites of being winners- organisation, discipline, talent and the right attitude'.
Sylhet Tigers Football Club manager Basit Ali, commented on the performance of his players. 'I am extremely proud of the commitment and attitude of my young players. At times they play fast, breathtaking football, which has received admiration from other players and coaches alike. At this moment they are performing at the highest level and I have do doubt that this will be a special year for them'.
